Rochelt harvests 2010: A first overview
The harvest season is in the final stages and we look back with mixed feelings. The first harvests in July were conducted under ideal conditions. The three weeks of sunshine in July shaped the early harvests. The quality of the black currants and the Morello cherries were excellent. Later, the conditions for harvest became more difficult due to frequent changes in weather. As a result the apricot harvest as well as the Williams pear were very small, other harvests had to be canceled altogether due to unsatisfactory quality (e.g. raspberry). In contrast, the Gravenstein apple and the quince have benefited from the nice weather during fall. In total, the quantity of all our harvests is 50% lower than last year. Now we benefit from the big harvests from 2006 to 2008, which are now stored for maturation in our brandy cellar.

During a trip in Switzerland Robert Parker, a leading US wine critic, had the chance to try some of our finest brandies at our distribution partner in Luzern.
He remarked: “I rarely drink spirits, but the generous owner insisted I taste a few Schnaps from a fanatical guy named Rochelt … the stuff is amazing …”
Thank you very much, Mr. Parker.
